both microneurosurgery and endovascular techniques and
the first dual-trained endovascular neurosurgeon on Long
Island.
Dr. Brisman received his undergraduate degree magna
cum laude in History and Science from Harvard
University and his medical degree from Columbia College
of Physicians and Surgeons. He then completed a General
Surgery Internship and Neurosurgical Residency at
Massachusetts General Hospital serving as Chief Resident

Hospital, Seattle, Washington under Drs. David Newell
and Marc Mayberg. Dr. Brisman received the American
Association of Neurological Surgeons 2001 Resident
Award for basic science work on experimental models

Before joining Neurological Surgery, P.C. Dr. Brisman
served as the Director of Cerebrovascular and Endovascular
Neurosurgery at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute,
JFK Medical Center, Edison, New Jersey. Over a two year
period Dr. Brisman performed many successful surgeries

brain AVMs (embolization, surgical excision, radiosurgery),
carotid disease (endarterectomy and stenting), and acute
stroke (MERCI retrieval, intraarterial thrombolysis).
Dr. Brisman also has a special interest in extracranial-intracranial
vascular bypass for aneurysms and stroke.
Dr. Brisman has published more than 28 articles in peer-reviewed
neurosurgery journals on the treatment of Vascular/Skull
Base conditions, Epilepsy/Radiosurgery, and General Neurosurgery. He
has also written book chapters on Carotid Artery Disease,
and Neurointerventional Treatment of Vasospasm. He is
the lead author of the chapter on cerebral aneurysms
in the popular web-based medical information site “eMedicine” (www.emedicine.com). The
New England Journal of Medicine published his article “Medical
